Bourg d'Oisans in the Summer
The market town of Bourg d'Oisans sits at the base of
Alpe d'Huez (made famous by the Tour de France) and has a population of approximately 3000
people. It is based in the Isere department of France and
lies at the point at which six contrasting steep valleys
(known collectively as the Oisans)
meet at 750 metres above sea level.
Due to its central position in this area, Bourg d'Oisans
is the ideal location for a holiday in the
Alps.
The town has plenty of bars and restaurants, campsites, hotels,
an abundance of patisseries and loads of other shops so is an
ideal place to chill out after a day exploring the
mountains.
For practical things there are several banks with
cash-points, a post office and a launderette as well as a
large supermarket 10 minutes walk from the house.
You can also pay a visit to the Museum of Minerals and Fauna in the Alps,
or the great outdoor swimming pool, with slide and space to
relax in the sun.
Oh and we can also boast 300 days of sunshine a year!
