Water sports in the Oisans region

As you will imagine in our mountain wonderland there is plenty of water in numerous forms, glaciers, lakes, streams, rivers and waterfalls are everywhere.

The closest watersports area to Bourg d'Oisans is located on the Lac du Verney in Allemont about a 10minute drive from the town.  The watersports centre offers a range of activities such as pedalo's, boating, canoeing, windsurfing and sailing in Optimists from June to the end of August.

Further a field the watersports centre at Lac du Chambon (on the RD 1091 towards Briancon) offers, kayaks, canoes, windsurfing, catamarans and optimists for hire.

The lake itself is a hydroelectric reservoir and a visit to the EDF museum is also worth a visit while you are there. www.musee-hydrelec.fr

Bourg d'Oisans itself has a fantastic outdoor swimming pool open in July and August, tight trunks are a must though boys there is a strict "no baggies" rule which is applied!

You can also take canoeing trips along the Rive river which winds its way through the town.  The river is always calm and a canoe trip is a great family adventure.
